Salesforce buys analytics platform Tableau for $15.7 billion

Salesforce has agreed to buy buy big data firm Tableau Software for $15.7 billion.

Tableau has more than 86,000 customers around the world, including Charles Schwab, Verizon Communications, Schneider Electric, Southwest and Netflix.

Together, Salesforce and Tableau share a deep commitment to empowering their respective communities and enabling people of every skill level to transform their businesses, their careers, and their lives through technology.

The buyout follows Salesforce’s acquisition of data integration company Mulesoft for $6.5 billion in May, 2018.
