HPE extends server portfolio offerings

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has extended its server portfolio offerings to help customers accelerate innovation, speed time-to-value and modernize their datacenters.

These new offerings include new compute platforms with built-in support for Persistent Memory, New HPE ProLiant Gen9 server options, and new HPE workload-optimised platforms and solutions including new HPE Apollo and HPE Moonshot systems.

HPE South Pacific enterprise group vice-president and general manager, Alan Hyde, said the company builds on its experience in compute technology and sets customers on a path towards Memory-Driven Computing.

These new solutions and technologies for the HPE ProLiant Gen9 portfolio provide organisations with a range of compute innovations that are designed for optimised performance in a hybrid infrastructure environment.

“HPE is committed to bringing new infrastructure innovations to the market that enable organisations to derive more value from their data,” Hyde said.

“We are delivering on that commitment by delivering a complete Persistent Memory hardware and software ecosystem into our server portfolio, as well as computing enhancements that will allow customers to increase agility, protect critical information and deliver new applications and services more quickly than ever before.”he added.

Hyde attributed a recent IDC study, which forecasted robust growth of the worldwide HPC market from $21 billion in 2015 to $31 billion in 2019.

“Organisations running complex HPC and Big Data workloads, such as modelling, simulation, high frequency trading and deep learning, are now able to modernise their datacentres with infrastructure solutions that are purpose-built and optimised to analyse massive volumes of data with speed, scale and efficiency.”

HPE will be working with industry operating system and application providers to enable the software ecosystem for HPE Persistent Memory offerings and to simplify implementation for HPE ProLiant server customers.

In addition, HPE is releasing Vertica for Hadoop-configured Apollo and ProLiant platforms. The company will also be issuing reference architectures for optimizing HPE Vertica for SQL on Hadoop.

The new HPE ProLiant Gen9 server options and related solutions are available through HPE and worldwide channel partners. Pricing will vary based on HPE ProLiant Gen9 server model and customer configurations.

The HPE 8GB NVDIMM will be available in May 2016 for initial support on HPE ProLiant DL360 and DL380 Gen9 servers with Intel E5-2600 v4 processor, while the HPE Apollo 6500 will be available in Q3 2016
