Intel and GoodMaps collaborate on a safe indoor navigation system

Safely and effectively navigating indoor spaces results in greater independence and confidence when traveling.

Intel is cooperating with GoodMaps as part of the Intel RISE Technology Initiative (IRTI) to provide a high-quality indoor wayfinding solution for those who are blind or visually impaired.

When travelling, being able to navigate indoor environments safely and successfully gives you more independence and confidence. To improve the precision and accuracy of GoodMaps’ commercial indoor wayfinding service, Intel is continuing to research volumetric mapping algorithms and artificial intelligence developments. With new, dedicated workstreams for social justice and human rights, accessibility, and climate change, the IRTI assesses and funds projects in health care, education, and the economy.
