IBM Selected to Support Missile Defense Agency’s SHIELD Program

IBM has announced its selection to support the U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s Scalable Homeland Innovative Enterprise Layered Defense (SHIELD) program. The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, with a ceiling value of $151 billion, is designed to enable the rapid delivery of innovative, mission-critical capabilities to the warfighter with enhanced speed and agility.

With nearly a century of experience supporting the U.S. federal government, IBM continues to deliver secure, mission-focused technologies that strengthen national defense. As part of the SHIELD program, IBM will leverage its expertise in advanced technologies, including AI-enabled sensing and analytics, to help defense agencies improve operational efficiency, decision-making, and mission outcomes. The company’s approach emphasizes built-in governance, interoperability, and mission-grade security to protect sensitive data while accelerating modernization efforts.

“IBM is proud to partner with the Missile Defense Agency to accelerate the delivery of advanced, mission-critical capabilities,” said Susan Wedge, Managing Partner, U.S. Federal Market for IBM. “By bringing the full depth of our expertise and cutting-edge technologies, we will help ensure the warfighter is equipped to respond with greater speed, agility, and confidence in an increasingly complex threat environment.”
