IBM Global Chief Data Officer, Inderpal Bhandari, has been named CDO of the Year for 2017 by the CDO Club.
Inderpal Bhandari was recognised for IBM’s leadership in this area by the CDO Club. Founded in 2013, the CDO Club is the world’s first, largest, and most powerful community of C-suite digital leaders, is dedicated to helping CDOs improve their capabilities, strengthen their professional networks, openly share insights and strategies, and collaboratively identify the tools essential to help them succeed in navigating today’s rapidly evolving, highly competitive and complex digital environment.
The world is experiencing an explosion of data, causing digital disruption across all industries. Enabling cognitive data solutions now and in the future requires a Chief Data Officer to develop a clear data strategy that includes governance and management systems, building a single data platform, as well as, deep data and analytics partnerships. These platforms become the central data source for business analytics across the enterprise and for developing and scaling talent.
In his role as CDO, Bhandari is responsible for setting IBM’s data strategy and transforming data into business value. He also focuses on improving customer experiences by delivering strategic, innovative capabilities that use analytic insights to enable growth and productivity.

Bhandari was presented with the award at the 2017 CDO Summit in Washington, D.C., on July 26, 2017.
