Cisco acquires AI security company Armorblox

Cisco has announced its intent to acquire Armorblox, a company that has pioneered the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) and natural language understanding in cybersecurity.

As part of the acquisition, Cisco intends to use Armorblox’s generative artificial intelligence and natural language processing technologies across its security portfolio with a view to help provide enhanced attack prediction and rapid threat detection to its clients.

“The first application of Armorbloxs advanced techniques was securing the most significant way enterprise users get routinely attacked yes, I’m talking about email. Through this acquisition, though, we see many exciting broad security use cases and possibilities to unlock,” wrote Cisco Security Chief Product Officer Raj Chopra.

The Armorblox team will join the Security Business Group, where they will work closely to bring Generative AI-powered experiences to Cisco’s Security portfolio.

Financial terms have not been disclosed. Cisco said it expects the deal to close by the end of its fourth fiscal quarter.
