GitHub has increased the developer’ take – home pay for apps sold on GitHub Marketplace from 75% to 95%, while GitHub will keep a 5% transaction fee. GitHub has also simplified the app verification process for developers.
GitHub Marketplace is a form for developers to find, sell, and share development tools and solutions designed to simplify and improve the process of software development.
GitHub will now verify developer organization’s identity and common-sense security precautions by:
1. Validating organization’s domain with a DNS TXT record
2. Validating the email address
3. Requiring two-factor authentication for a developer’s GitHub organization
Developers can track app submission’s progress from their organization’s profile settings to fix issues faster. Soon GitHub will move all “verified apps” to the validated publisher model, updating the “ verified” badge to indicate publishers, and not apps are scrutinized.
GitHub is also updating its technology partner program , which helps partners build integrations to the GitHub platform.
