Parul University has selected Dell Technologies infrastructure solution to facilitate seamless online learning to more than 30,000 students enrolled in different programs.
The university implemented a hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) solution that enables compute, storage, and networking functions to be decoupled from the underlying infrastructure, improving efficiency and lowering costs. Built on Dell EMC PowerEdge servers, the HCI solution delivers agility, scalability, and simplified IT management. With online learning becoming a norm amidst the pandemic, Parul University needed an infrastructure through which they could allow their students to attend classes online, while ensuring top-notch data security. The university also needed a scalable and elastic solution that would have the ability to accommodate future online learning needs.
“The situation that unfolded early last year forced educational institutions to deploy new-age IT solutions for flexible online learning. We did deploy new infrastructure, however the costs incurred by us was higher than expected,” said Snehalkumar Darji, chief technology officer, Parul University. “We analyzed the existing learning model and decided that an on-premise IT setup seemed to be the right solution for us. Adopting HCI solutions from Dell Technologies has made us future-ready. We are early adopters of online learning and instruction infrastructure and this has undoubtedly helped us provide seamless digital learning to our students.”
With the deployment of Dell Technologies’ HCI, the university system administrators started receiving insights such as proactive alert, back-up, and resource forecasting. allowing the technical team more time for innovation. The implementation of Dell OpenManage Software helped the university manage the entire infrastructure using a single console and the entire setup remotely with the iDRAC Enterprise solution.
“The advancements in digital technologies has transformed education. Online instructions and learning from anywhere are becoming more prevalent,” said Srinivas Rao, senior director, System Engineering, Dell Technologies. “With our end-to-end solutions, we were able to address Parul University’s need to migrate their physical server workload into the HCI environment and offer seamless online education. Now, the university has a scalable and elastic solution, equipped to accommodate future workload requirements for education of the future.”
