Kyndryl and VMware Team up on Multi-cloud

by CIO AXIS

Kyndryl plans to work with VMware to expand its existing multi-cloud advisory, implementation, and management services.

Kyndryl and VMware have expanded their relationship to help customers with their application modernisation and multi-cloud plans. Under the agreement the companies will be developing a range of services aimed at multi-cloud infrastructure and management, digital workspace, managed applications, and other areas.

Kyndryl has had a remarkable start. The company participate in a much bigger ecosystem as an independent firm to provide more value to its clients, which includes collaborating with cloud hyperscalers and significant cloud software companies.

“Our combination with VMware is especially important as Kyndryl continues to invest in our industry-leading skills in key areas, most notably in cloud, Network and Edge Computing, and in security and resiliency services. Kyndryl already brings thousands of skilled professionals with VMware certifications to our customers” said Martin Schroeter, Chairman and CEO of Kyndryl.
The companies also want to help customers accelerate their digital transformation by developing and deploying new, more secure hybrid workforce applications.

Kyndryl plans to work with VMware to expand its existing multi-cloud advisory, implementation, and management services to support VMware Tanzu, the company’s container and Kubernetes platform, and deploy vSphere workloads to VMware multi-cloud infrastructure running in public clouds.

Susan Nash, Senior Vice President, strategic corporate alliances, VMware, said, “Multi-cloud is the digital business model for the next 20 years. With the average organisation running hundreds of apps across many different clouds, customers need solutions and strategic partners that enable their organisations to be as agile and resilient as possible”.

The Kyndryl-VMware agreement follows on Kyndryl’s tie-in with Microsoft earlier this month. The companies will develop products built on the Microsoft Cloud aimed at helping customers with digital transformation, under that pact, Kyndryl stated.

Kyndryl further states, the companies will jointly focus on data modernisation and governance, AI-driven innovations for industries, cyber security and resiliency, and moving mission-critical workloads to the cloud. Kyndryl will lead with advisory, implementation, and managed services for hybrid IT environments, according to Kyndryl.

VMware is newly independent and a leader in helping customers bring their existing applications to the cloud, as well as helping to create new cloud-native offerings.

Kyndryl has also achieved SAP certification for operations capabilities in global cloud and infrastructure operations that further strengthens Kyndryl’s capabilities and portfolio where the company will be able to pursue more joint opportunities to manage SAP operations on cloud and on-premise with end-to-end automation technology.
