Kaspersky has unveiled two significant enhancements to its Kaspersky Password Manager, aimed at fortifying digital security and user convenience.
These new features include the ability to securely store unique keys for two-factor authentication (2FA) and generate one-time passwords. Furthermore, the list of supported browsers for the password manager has been expanded to encompass Opera and Opera GX.
As the complexity of passwords required to thwart cyber threats increases, the adoption of password managers is becoming increasingly popular. In response to the growing number of digital credentials needed, Kaspersky Password Manager now empowers users to securely store unique keys for two-factor authentication (2FA) accounts. This is a crucial step in enhancing the security of vital user accounts, even in the event of a compromised account password.
The newly introduced feature also enables the storage of a unique key, used to generate one-time login codes that refresh every 30 seconds. To log in securely, users can copy the generated code from the app and paste it into the required field. While Mac users have the option to manually input the authentication codes, Windows users can look forward to gaining access to this feature in the upcoming fall of 2023.
Furthermore, Kaspersky Password Manager has expanded its browser extension support to include Opera and Opera GX versions 92 and higher. With this addition, users can conveniently manage personal and sensitive information, as the extension automatically saves logins, passwords, and other crucial data within Kaspersky Password Manager. Additionally, it facilitates seamless auto-filling of these credentials during login processes or online transactions.
According to the Password Manager Annual Report 2022 survey conducted by Security.Org, the use of password managers on mobile devices surpassed desktop usage in 2022. In the United States alone, 84 percent of password vault users employed them on their phones. Although 45 million Americans rely on password managers to safeguard their online credentials, a significant portion still resorts to memorization or handwritten notes to manage their passwords.
