After a long tenure as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder of the Zoho Corp, Sridhar Vembu, has stepped down as the CEO of the software firm. Vembu wrote on social media platform X that he would focus on research and development as the ‘chief scientist’ of the company.
“A new chapter begins today. In view of the various challenges and opportunities facing us, including recent major developments in AI, it has been decided that it is best that I should focus full time on R&D initiatives, along with pursuing my personal rural development mission,” Vembu said in a post on X.
Sridhar Vembu, renowned for his commitment to sustainable development and the rural economy, announced a shift in his role at Zoho. He will step down as CEO of Zoho Corp to take on a new position as Chief Scientist, where he will focus on driving deep “R&D” initiatives.
Vembu also revealed that the group’s co-founder, Shailesh Kumar Davey, will take over as the new CEO of Zoho Corp. He further outlined the leadership structure, with co-founder Tony Thomas leading Zoho US, Rajesh Ganesan heading the ManageEngine division, and Mani Vembu taking charge of Zoho.com. Vembu expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, stating that the company’s future hinges on successfully navigating the R&D challenge, and he is excited to return to hands-on technical work.
